"Excellence Through Innovation"

The first scissors designed to give an accurate mediolateral episiotomy

Now being used in over 75% NHS Hospitals in England!

And being successfully used in

Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle-East.

Episcissors-60 give an episiotomy at 60 degrees to the midline at crowning.

Fulfilling a RCOG recommendation to cut the episiotomy at 60 degrees to the midline at crowning.

“Where episiotomy is indicated, the mediolateral technique is recommended, with careful attention to ensure that the angle is 60 degrees away from the midline when the perineum is distended”

FIGO recommends a mediolateral episiotomy should be performed at 60 degrees angle.

EPISCISSORS-60™ are the only accurate way to enable this!

Two recently published systematic reviews find that the EPISCISSORS-60™ reduced OASIS (Obstetric anal sphincter injuries)

by 50-60%

SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Jennifer Cole and colleagues from Coventry, England published their SR in the prestigious European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Biology. They found that the EPISCISSORS-60™ reduced OASIS by up to 50%. In all studies, operators were able to consistently achieve post-suturing episiotomy angles of more than 40°.

SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Olga Divakova and colleagues from Middlesbrough published their research in the prestigious International Urogynecology Journal. EPISCISSORS-60™ reduced OASIS by an absolute 4%. EPISCISSORS-60™   significantly reduced OASIS when used compared to standard maternity scissors (1.88% incidence vs 6.23% incidence)

• Where maternity units use Episcissors-60 TM they significantly reduce the risk of OASIS compared to maternity units that use standard scissors (3.58% vs 6.31%)

• Assuming a risk ratio of 0.58 in all vaginal deliveries, using EPISCISSORS-60™ would result in 12,600 fewer OASIS - a saving of £20.5m per year in direct OASIS repair costs in England.
